By Annejoelica Esguerra
A great power comes from great responsibility.
A benefit concert from the old members of Bulacan Press Club Inc. (BPC) were conducted in connection of the 60th anniversary of the said club with induction of the new set of officers for this year in Hiyas ng Bulacan Pavillon, October 8.
Cecilio Franista of Luzon Times was this year’s president while 21 more officers will continue what the advocacy of the club has.
“To be a journalist is a significant calling, a profession that requires a strict ethic of civic responsibility. A strict caution must be done while executing responsibility,” Governor Alvarado delivered on his speech.
Governor encouraged all of the journalists present on the event to seek for the truth for the benefit of many.
I want to commend all the members of BPCI for your passion and commitment too seeking the truth. Just like what stated in your motto “hindi nabubusalan ang katotohanan,” promoted Alvarado.
Alvarado described that the media has a power to influence the mind and principle of the people so a great responsibility is also in the shoulders of the journalists to be executed.
Meanwhile, Councilor Michael Fermin visualized the role of the media as oppressors of the wrongdoers and motivators for rights and justice.
