Jeremicah Pantaleon: Morale inspirations lead to vale of success
by: Annejoelica A. Esguerra
First game, first fame.
“Nung naglaro kami nung high school, sa Provincial (meet), kasa-kasama ko yung daddy ko... edi iyon.. masyadong crucial yung game namin, dikit lang yung score… chi-ni-cheer talaga ako ng daddy ko, hanggang sa ayun, ako yung nagpachampion sa team namin.”
A basketball player, eighteen year-old Jeremicah Pantaleon shared her remarkable experience way back her fourth year high school days (2011) in Jesus is Lord Bocaue Colleges Foundation (JILBCF) .
Playing as a point guard since her senior years, their JILBCF basketball women’s team declared the champion in BULPRISA and CLRAA while they notched sixth place in Palarong Pambansa.
“Yung daddy ko kasi sumunod sa Bulacan Complex, dun kasi ginanap yung (2011) provincial meet nu’n. Edi iyon, masyadong crucial yung game namin, kasi dalawang over time yun, ang ganda ng laro namin against EdDis (Educational Division Schools) II, Lolomboy. After nun, dikit lang yung ano (scores), 77 kami 77 din sa kanila, edi OT lagi, dalawang OT yun. After nun, hindi naman sa pag-a-aano, ako kasi yung tumira (nagshoot) no’n. Kaya ayun, ipinagmamalaki ako ng coach ko sa JILBCF na ako daw yung nagpachampion sa team namin.”
Her parents are her spring of inspiration. The tie breaker nobly revealed that her father was the reason why she managed to win that time for their team. Her mother also supports and guides her in her studies. Her mom also teaches her to balance herself and her time between sports stuff and school activities although her mother cannot attend to her games because of her profession. Jeremicah’s mother is an English teacher and an academic trainer coaching contestants in spelling at JILBCF.
She also pursued to become the team’s champion to give honor for her school and for her team, and because it was her last year on her Alma Mater.
When she entered Bulacan State University she continues being an athlete of the same sport. They played last year (2012) in UCLAA (University Colleges League of Athletes Association) were they got the second place, proclaimed as champion in SCUAA (State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association) and notched as six placer in National SCUAA. UCLAA is only exclusive for ball games.
Jeremicah is now on her second year taking up Bachelor of Physical Education and lives at 101 Bunlo, Bocaue, Bulacan.
This story evidently tells that parents’ care and support can make their children reach their goals and aspirations leading to valley of success. Children should be trained and developed through discipline not just with love but also with respect.
But most importantly, parents should make ways to have time for bonding and funny moments with their sons and daughters. Because no matter what and no matter where, these recollections of happy moments with her parents will flourish up from all the rest of existing memories he/she have got and have experienced in his/her mind. This athletic moment Jeremicah shared with her parents truly motivates her to continue her goals and aspirations that she appreciates in life.
Lastly, it will be a resource of inspirations from perspiration and perseverance of a child that will eventually leads and guides him/her to the path of true achievement.
