Double record.
Bulacan State University’s graduate Ian Jay Torres Matias set a record high of 96.20 as the top-notcher of the last Mechanical Engineering Licensure Examination released September 25.
Following this, the passing rate of the university in Mechanical Engineering rose to 78%.
Matias, 23, along with fellow top passers Angelo Valle Santiago, 21, on the fifth spot and Aldrin Cruz Bernardo, 22, landing tenth place told that the results were quite unexpected.
Santiago and Bernardo got averages of 93.95 and 93.20, respectively.
When asked about the preparations they made, the three responded that mastery and familiarization over the topic had been their formula to pave way for the top positions.
Kailangan alam mo yung binasa [mo],” Bernardo replied.
About 2,201 out of 3,196 takers qualified the board examination and 70 of these passers are from BulSU.
The exam was held September 22 and 23 by the Board of Mechanical Engineering in Manila, Cebu, and Davao.
Results were posted online in the official website of the Professional Regulation Commission.
On the other hand, the overall passing rate of the Mechanical Engineering examination fell to 68.6%, almost a percent lower compared to previous year’s September record of 69%.
Meanwhile, BulSUans also made it to top ten of the September 7 and 8 Electrical Engineering Licensure Examination with graduates Christian Calonzo and Christian Moises Pahati ranking second and tenth, correspondingly.
Fixed spot
Engr. Romeo D. Robles (Dean of College of Engineering) shared that BSU never flunked from being one of the top ten in the licensure examination since 2000 up to the present.
The College of Engineering holds a record of four years having them on top, two times in Electronics Communication Engineering and another two for the Mechanical Engineering counting this year.
As of now they are waiting for the result of the Civil Engineering this coming November, and Electronics Communications Engineering this coming December.
Preparations and reaction
For the preparations, regular students have their daily review routine compare to those who are not. Those who are irregulars, they were having their review sessions on their junior years.
“Yung mga hindi regulars quizzers sila, third year palang nag rereview na, dyan nadedevelop ang skills and capacity,” Dean Robles said.
Dean Robles shared that being on top is not on the brain matter, it”s in the character itself.
“Nasa character, mas maganda dun sa iba [ topnotchers] mas mabuti kaysa sa iba. Kahit magkaka level sila syempre ang pinagpapala yung mga mabubuti,” he said.
