BALAGTAS, Bulacan – Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado on Thursday introduced his plans to amplify Bulacan’s promising progress by developing and improving its roads during his speech during the commemoration of 435th Bulacan Foundation Day.
“You cannot reach any portion of Central Luzon, Region 2 or Region 1 without passing through the province of Bulacan,” said the governor. “Hindi ba’t marapat lamang na una nating ikasa ang mga road network na nagdadala sa atin at sa ating mga panauhin upang tayo’y malagay sa tuktok muli ng ating bansang Pilipinas?”
Included in the governor’s plans is the opening of 7 km Malolos-Hagonoy by-pass road which has a Php210 million allotted budget for its development, the 65 km North Luzon East Alignment, aiming to provide an alternative route to Daang Maharlika Road connecting NCR to Cagayan Valley, the 40 km San Jose Del Monte City-Dingalan Tunnel Highway, the 16 km Balagtas-Angat linkages and expansion, the 34 km coastal highway, Metro Rail Transit 7 and First Fish Port and Ferry Services.
Sy-Alvarado also noted the One Bulacan Program for Rapid Industrialization and Development (PRIDE), launched by the local government along with Executive Secretary Pacquito “Jojo” Ochoa, Jr. last March 8, which is currently being expected to transform the province into “into a hub of industrialization and a model of inclusive economic growth.”
The governor’s address tackled about Bulacan’s early history, how it was first discovered through the early reports and documents up to the present time where the Bulakenyos are now on its way to total progress.
During the program, the governor, along with Vice-Governor Daniel R. Fernando, Malolos mayor Atty. Christian Natividad, other town mayors, vice-mayors and board members, kicked off the month-long celebration of Singkaban Fiesta, known as the mother of all fiestas in the province.
The celebration, which was held in front of the Provincial Capitol, began at around 8 in the morning with a holy mass officiated by Msgr. Andy Valera. Proud Bulakenya Lara Lavinia Bayani from San Rafael serenaded the audience with two songs to exhibit her Bulakenya singing prowess.
